POOPIE PROBLEMS!!!!!

Sophie has had some poopie problems...I welcome any ones advice.....

Sophie will hold in her poop for days, sometimes alittle over a week. And then the time comes and she stiffens up and hides. Then all of a sudden the hysterical screaming starts. It is happening, she is finally letting it out. Obviously this is hurting her, but I can not help her. She is one strong kid, I can not for the life of me bend her legs or help her get it out.

So the question WHAT DO I DO?

That sounds horrible, poor girl! I think you should try the saran wrap under the diaper thing...just see how it goes, good luck!

Kaiya had that issue when she was that age...we ended up using a stool softener specifically designed for little one's. I don't remember the specifics but it was in liquid form and Brian and I fought over who would "administer" the stool softener (b/c it wasn't an oral medication, if ya know what I mean).

Bribe her. When she goes give her a tootsie roll or skittle or something small. My sister in law did this and says it worked great. In fact I found out this trick when I was babysitting and Bethany told me she made a little poopie and a big poopie and she wanted her candy. I thought it was a trick and refused, but when mom got home turns out I just didn't know the family rules. :)

Miralax is an option. It is an over the counter laxative safe enough for babies/children and you put it in with their juice or milk once or twice a day. It is tasteless so Sophie will drink it and hopefully become regular without hardly feeling a thing. Then just keep her drinking lots of fluids (even flavored water, if necessary just to keep her well hydrated and regular). If it is a "choice issue" meaning you think she is purposely holding back, remember this is one of the few areas she has control so take it as an opportunity to teach her about good choices = good consequences or bad choices = sad consequences. Best of luck. Potty issues are awful!!!
